Sermon Notes

Excerpt from the message:

“As your family, my family multiplies, as they come into contact with more parts of this ministry—this ministry you have put money into—this ministry that you and I have supported, but as things multiply among us, situations inevitably, I suppose, arise that occasion separations, breakages of personal, sweet, holy communion with one another. You often look at that picture there and read it and say well, ‘Lot, why didn’t you handle it. Why didn’t you go and handle it, Lot.’ And, we don’t know why he didn’t. Abram’s herdmen—I noticed that the Scripture says that there was strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle, and that the Canannite and the Perizzite was in the land. That put together like that, there are other sins that influencing the family of Lot. There are other Canannite and Perizzite powers invading the families of Abraham and Lot. And this, without the desire for it to happen, becomes the occasion for separation. I believe that this is one of the greatest things to destroy the people of God that we have in the Bible, as people stand paralyzed while other parties break great friendships and fellowships. To me, that is sad. And it is because somebody is powerless. Somebody is not a prayer warrior. Somebody is not in touch with God. Somebody has commenced lukewarmness, indifference. Somebody has headed toward apathy, because the power of God in the headships of families can keep those headships from splitting and separating. If I didn’t believe that I would quit preaching. And it was Abram that had to finally say, ‘Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen, for we are brethren. If that ever happens to you and me, we will be responsible to this. This will be our responsibility, and it will be because we failed to keep power with God.”
