Bachelor of Sacred Music

Overview

The Bachelor of Sacred Music is an appropriate degree program for the individual who has given evidence of musical talent and who desires to further prepare that gift for a ministry in music. At the end of the Freshman and Sophomore years, each student will perform a studio recital in his given proficiency for the music faculty. Following these examinations ultimate decision will be made concerning the further pursual of this degree. Upon full acceptance into this degree, a public recital will be required in the student's Junior and Senior years.

All music majors are required to take instruction in their proficiency every semester they are enrolled. Each student will also participate in a college ensemble every semester. All recital performances are to be completed in the same year as one's graduation.

The Bachelor of Sacred Music program requires a double major in Bible and Music consisting of a minimum of 130 credit hours. The core of the music program consists of a variety of courses in both the history and philosophy of music (principle) as well as the theory of music (practice).
