The Plenary Curriculum

The following academic theological areas of studies set forth the entire format needed to the completion of the Doctor of Theology. Of course this is commenced in the Bachelor of Theology studies.

I. The Philosophy of Religion: the basis of religious conviction—the existence of God, the nature of authority, its relation to the Bible.
II. Exegetical Theology
A.  Introduction: background and time, occasion, authorship, etc.

B.  Hermeneutics: the theory of the interpretation of Scripture; the determination of the meaning of Scripture by proper principles.

C.  Exegesis proper: the practice of the interpretation of Scripture; the drawing out of the grammatical and historical meaning in the original languages of the Bible.

D.  Biblical Theology: the study of the process of God's Self-revelation which is recorded in Scripture.

IV. Systemic Theology
A. Apologetics: the formal defense of the Faith.
B. Systematic Theology proper (13 sections with Doctrinal Summaries).
C.  Dogmatic Theology
V. Practical Theology
A.  Pastoral Theology
B.  Church Polity
C.  Homiletics
D.  Liturgiology
E.  Hymnology
VI. Moral Theology: the ethics of Christian conduct.
VII. Mystical and Ascetical Theology: the study of the mystics and monasticism.
VIII. Comparative Religions
IX. English Bible

The purpose and philosophy of the charter, constitution, and bylaws of Foundations Bible College are sustained through the Seminary and Graduate School. The need for the minister, Christian educator, teacher, and general Christian worker has truly become more complex, and in keeping with those growing needs, the Seminary and Graduate School are part of the Foundations Schools.
